A life changing experience
If you want your kids to fall in love with the English language and communicate with fluency then you have come to the right place!
I’m a mother of six beautiful children, and just like you I want my children to have as many opportunities in life as possible. In today's international world being able to communicate effectively in English is key to opening doors of opportunity, and I’d love to help your child to achieve that.
I created The English Advantage to reach out to as many individuals as possible, and offer your child the benefits of full immersion in a loving nurturing family, where they will learn English and British culture with our home educating family.
I want to help your child to fall in love with the English language and culture, and I’m glad you are here.

Educational Philosophy
We are made in the image and the likeness of God, our philosophy is based on this truth of individuality and dignity. Our immersion experiences offer a holistic approach to language learning, whereby your child not only learns what is necessary linguistically but in relevant ways that they find personal and engaging. The experience we provide is tailored to the needs of the individual.
Our approach focuses on character first, relationships and joy second and a love of learning as the fruit of this approach. Each child that comes to stay is treated as one of our own, with much love, respect, attention and nurturing.
Our approach to teaching English is communicative with emphasis on investigating the language, noticing when and how it is used, using critical thinking to understand then applying the rules with lots of improvisation. The emphasis is on trial and error, on using the language to improve.

What is it?
Our language immersion experience includes living and home educating with professional English teacher and her family, receiving one to one English grammar lessons and a home education with the family.
What does this look like on an average week?
Monday to Thursday is our work day week. You will receive personalised English classes, daily cultural education in British history, literature, poetry and art. You will read independently and as a group, listen to others read and discuss the themes. You will watch documentaries, and films. You will research for your own personal project. You will write for a variety of purposes including for your weekly presentation, which will be given as a spoken presentation. You will work both independently and in a group.
Friday's are the fun day! We begin the day by browsing recipe books for traditional treats to bake for Friday's poetry teatime and Saturday's picnic. We then shop for the ingredients and come home to bake. We lay the table beautifully, and begin!
Poetry tea time starts with a free write, this is a response to a stimulus, where you focus on writing your thoughts and ignore all punctuation, spelling and grammar. It's a brilliant exercise for fluency. Next we present our weekly presentations, and engage with the presentations of others. This is followed by a-poetry focus from the era that we are studying. We then share any poetry that we love. After the poetry we have a philosophy debate. All in a delightful relaxed manner with delicious food and tea.
On Saturdays we go on excursions to historic sites, natural sites, museums or art galleries! This is the day for living what we have learnt during the week. You will go to London at least once during your stay.
On Sundays we relax. We attend mass, go for nice long walks, eat a traditional Sunday roast dinner and take slow relaxing walks.

Our Home Town
Whitstable is a small fishing town on the south east coast of England, famous for its oysters and award winning restaurants. The traditional British seaside town boasts cobbled streets lined with quirky independent shops, vibrant art galleries, quality restaurants and buzzing coffee shops. The working harbour is a central hub of life in the town with fresh seafood stalls, bohemian huts overspilling with arts, crafts and food and a large plaza where live music is often performed. The pebbled beaches stretch the length the town with each beach hosting beautifully cared for beach huts in an array of stripes and colours.
We live a stones throw from the beach, up a small hill giving us an awe-inspiring view as far as the eye can see. We are blessed with beautiful sunsets over a horizon of ocean each evening. Perhaps more beautiful still, is watching a storm travel over the ocean towards the house while seated in the warmth with hot chocolate and marshmallows.
This tranquil popular escape from the city is located fifteen minutes from historic Canterbury, and an hour from the city of London.
